CTU Elections

CTs have the opportunity every year to choose which of their fellow members will help lead our Union. In even-numbered years, CTs choose a Vice President, Secretary and four Directors to the Executive Board. In odd numbered years, we choose the President, Treasurer and three Directors. If a Board member has stepped down during his or her two-year term of office, we will vote on someone to fill out the remainder of that term.

We also elect a member to the Audit Committee every year for a three-year term. If an Audit Committee member has stepped down during his or her term of office, we will vote on someone to fill out the remainder of that term.

Our elections are overseen by an Elections Committee and governed by our Constitution.  (See Article IV – Officers, Nominations, and Elections)

Know who you’re voting for

The Elections Committee works hard to make sure that all CTU members have the opportunity to get to know the candidates. Statements from the candidates are published in the October special elections issue of the CT News. Special forums are set up and announced so that we can meet the candidates and ask questions. Members are also encouraged to contact candidates directly.

Wondering what qualities you should look for in your elected leaders? See “Expectations of CTU Executive Board Officers and Audit Committee Members” and the CTU Constitution, Article V – Duties of Officers and Executive Board.
